Between Kyiv and Vienna: Stories of People, Ideas, and Objects in Circulation and Motion
Center for Urban History of East Central Europe
The Institute for Human Sciences
Central European University
National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy"
This multidisciplinary conference seeks to reexamine the modern history of the region, loosely bound within the borders of today’s Ukraine and Austria, through the lens of mobility of people, ideas, and objects. People who moved within, out of, and into the region, are taken into consideration. The driving forces and the consequences of their movement are studied. The conference will examine the flow of ideas spread and resonated with the experience of people; and the circulation of material objects, goods, and resources that affected the societies and the environment, as well as shaped the relations and hierarchies between places and people.
The academic programme of the conference will be followed by the evening public events.
