Curators’ Agenda - EXTER Programme

C’A is an annual, unique, hands-on program organized by BLOCKFREI, an independent cultural organization for prospective curators from around the world, dedicated to exploring the contemporary art scene in Vienna and deepening their practical knowledge of exhibition organization and holding. 

The program consists of practical and theoretical blocks. The practical program includes visits to artist studios, museums, creative spaces, collections, meetings with institutional and independent curators, specially designed tours of exhibitions in various museums and galleries, and visits to programs held during the residence (Viennacontemporary International Art Fair , Vienna Biennial of Contemporary Art, the “Parallel” Festival and curated by).In addition, the participants will visit the KulturKontakt, quartier 21 and das weisse haus residency programs and have the opportunity to meet with their residents.

Lina Romanukha – curator and art manager, graduate of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy’s Cultural Studies Master’s program, and Valeria Schiller – junior curator of PinchukArtCentre, a graduate of the Faculty of Art Theory and History of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv will travel to Vienna as part of EXTER.

EXTER is a long-term programme for international residencies in the field of contemporary art for Ukrainian artists, curators and art critics, developed by the Ukrainian Institute. As part of the bilateral cultural year, four out of eight residences of the first course Ekster-2019 will be held in Austria.
