Exhibition “Made in Chernobyl”
Location:Kyiv, Museum of Kyiv History
School of Contemporary Art
Museum of Kyiv History
On the 24-27 of October, there was a unique international art residency in Chernobyl. The participants were Ukrainian and international artists - representatives of completely different generations and mindsets. In the residency took part an Austrian photographer Peter Lagler.
It is an unprecedented case that artists do not just go to Pripyat and Chornobyl, a place known in the whole world, for inspiration and search for exotic motives in the post-catastrophic world, but also to work, to immerse in its powerful energy, and to feel its genetic memory. The main goal of the project is to give a completely new, creative interpretation of what Chernobyl is today, 33 years after the accident. Now, especially because of the TV series and movies, the understanding of the post-Chernobyl problem of an average person who has never been there is untrue, based more on prejudice than on real facts.
