Joseph Roth memorial concert

A concert in memory of Joseph Roth, an outstanding German-language writer whose dramatic fate unites Ukrainian, Austrian and Jewish history, will be held near the ruins of the synagogue in Brody (Ukraine).

The “Kaddish” symphony by the American composer Leonard Bernstein performed by the symphony orchestra “INSO-Lviv” with the participation of conductor Oksana Lyniv (Ukraine-Austria), soprano singer Pumeza Matshikiza (South Africa) and narrator Sunnyi Melles (Switzerland). Germany) will be the highlight of the concert program.

The program will also feature “Kyrie Eleison”  – a piece by a modern Ukrainian composer Bogdana Froljak, performed by the academic male choir “Dudaryk” (Ukraine) and the world premiere of a piece by violinist Abraham Brody (Lithuania-USA).

The concert was organized as part of the LvivMozArt festival on the initiative of the co-founder of the festival Oksana Lyniv, chief conductor of the Graz Opera, who was born in Brody.
