thanks to the Cultural Year YOVA4 is so accessible

Architect. Deputy Chairman of the Lviv Regional Organization of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine

YOVA4 shows a real example of how the Viennese authorities at the international level provide support to young architects and landscape designers, and instead they receive beautiful architectural objects and a comfortable urban environment.

YOVA is an initiative of the Municipality of Vienna for young Viennese architects and landscape designers. It started in 2005 to promote the young architectural talents of Vienna.

Initially, the idea was to implement the exhibition in the walls of Lviv Polytechnic within the framework of educational cooperation between the Institute of Architecture of the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” (Prof. Bogdan Cherkess) and the Vienna Technical University, the Institute of Urban Development and Landscape Architecture (Andreas Gopher).

However, we decided to give the exhibition more significance so that not only students and teachers would hear about it. It needs to be shown to the general public, to everyone who is interested in modern European architecture and high-quality landscape design. For this purpose, the Lviv Architects’ Union was offered a convenient location for such events – the renovated Architect’s House – the Centre of Architecture, Design and Urban Studies “Powder Tower”.

That’s why this year, in the framework of the Cultural Year Austria-Ukraine, for the first time in Ukraine thanks to the significant support of the Austrian Cultural Forum Kyiv (Director Ulf Hausbrandt) the fourth exhibition YOVA4 is being held in Lviv and will be opened  till June 16

Actually thanks to the Cultural Year Austria-Ukraine YOVA4 became so accessible to all citizens of Lviv and guests of the city, since the exhibition is multimedia and is available both in English and Ukrainian. This gave an impetus to such events in other cities of Ukraine, which were already interested in such an initiative.

YOVA4 shows a real example of how the Viennese authorities at the international level provide support to young architects and landscape designers, and instead they receive beautiful architectural objects and a comfortable urban environment.

On behalf of the organizers, I express my deep gratitude to Ulf Hausbrandt for his dedication and support of our event, and we are looking forward to further fruitful cooperation.
