From the 11th till the 15th of April in Kyiv there took place the 8th annual festival Austrian Film Week. The festival is traditionally sponsored by the Austrian Cultural Forum Kyiv, which helps to familiarize Ukrainian audience with Austrian culture through cinema art. This year’s festival programme includes three full-length films – the romantic comedy “Love Machine” by Andreas Schmid, the historic drama “Angelo” by Markus Schleinzer, the documentary “Earth” by Nikolaus Geyrhalter, as well as the traditional selection of short films from the festival of multimedia arts ARS ELECTRONICA.

After screenings in Kyiv, the festival programme was offered to activists and film club executives to show the movies in their cities. This year Austrian films have been shown already for the second time in cinema clubs. Thus, residents of even the smallest towns, with a population of less than 100 thousand people, were able to see modern Austrian movies in their place for free. The films from the festival programme were featured in over 25 movie clubs throughout Ukraine. The festival was held in the framework of the bilateral Cultural Year, which aims to bring the creative potential of both countries together
