Rediscovery of Bukovynian Humor at the Beginning of the 20th Century
The students’ translation project “Rediscovery of Bukovynian Humor at the Beginning of the 20th Century” is coordinated by the university assistant professor Dr. Larysa Oleksyshyna, a vice dean on international cooperation at the Department of Foreign Languages of Chernivtsi National University, and her younger colleague Dr. Liudmyla Tomniuk. Within the framework of the translation practical training, together with the German-Ukrainian Translation students, they have worked with texts that have not been translated into Ukrainian and therefore are unfamiliar to Chernivtsi residents. The texts very vividly describe the life in Chernivtsi at the beginning of the 20th century. These are short stories and essays written by Conrad Pekelmann and published in 1905 and by Franz Porubsky that appeared in 1910 and 1906. They are planned to be published and presented by autumn.
